At a Country Hospital
A number of ex-nurses being m the neighbourhood, the matron arranged an afternoon party — a good opportunity of getting them together, and also of letting the present nurses have a dance m the evening. They had been working hard, and had no recreation at hospital, and some of them could not easily get to their homes. The "afternoon" and dance were a great success. One half of "isolation" was arranged as a reception-room, with flowers, bush and flags, and, incidentally, nearly all the furniture m the
institution, and it looked very nice — a complete transformation! The other half of the ward was polished for dancing. Our friends, including some of the old nurses, sent us a quantity of cakes and cream and butter, and these, with the aid of our recent cooking pupils, provided a nice little hand-round supper. The music was provided by friends. In the afternoon, the ladies who were not likely to come m the evening were specially invited, and they all seemed to enjoy themselves.
