Marriages and Engagements

Miss Elsie Seed, trained at Dannevirke Hospital, is now Mrs. Rutherford, living ir Christchurch.

A marriage of interest to our readers is that of Miss Nan Heath, who for some time was attached to the Massage Branch of the N.Z.A.N.S. She was married at Kaiti, Gisborne, to Mr. T. Shailer-Weston, of Wellington, m December last.

Miss Francis Vickers, ono of the military massage students. Mas married on November 6th, at Rotorua. to Mr. Elliott, a returned soldier, and lias now gone to live at Rangatita, near Bulls.

On November 17th, at The Manse, Invercargill, a marriage was quietly celebrated, between Nurse Maggie Watt, of St. Helens Hospital, Invercargill, and Mr. Edward Nenna Hawke. Sister Kearns, of St. Helens, attended the bride. Immediately after the ceremony Mr. and Mrs. Nenna Hawke left for the Southern Lakes. Their future home will be m Invercargill.

On Monday, January sth, at St. Mark's Church, Opawa, Christchurch, Sister Elizabeth Bennett, late N.Z.A.N.S., was married to Mr. William Copeland, of Christcl uiel . and formerly of N.Z.E.F. Miss Kitty Mackay, Matron of South Lake Hospital, was bridesmaid, and the best mar., Mr. William Eade. Mrs. Copeland returned from England eight weeks ago. The Rev. F. A. Crawshaw was the officiating clergyman.

Nurse Rena Te Au, is now Mrs. Beaton, and resides at Colac Bay.

Miss Clara Palmer, who was one of Nurse Maude's District Nurses m Chiistchurch, • s now Mrs. Bone.

Sister Morton, who was trained at Gisborne Hospital, and St. Helens, Christchurch, and since on the staff of Miss Robey's Hospital, is now Mrs. Ralph, living at Palmerston North.

On Wednesday, January 28th, the marriage took place of Miss Joan Kendall, daughter of Dr. Martindale Kendall and Mrs. Kendall, R.R.C., to Dr. Robert Campbell Begg, M.C., who returned from active service m Mesopotamia with the R.A.M.C. about six months ago. Miss Joan Kendall completed her training at the Wellington Hospital m June, 1918. A very pleasant reception was held at Dr. Kendall's residence, at which many of the bride's nurse companions were present.

A very quiet wedding was solemnised m St. Alban's Church, Eastbourne, on Monday, December 29, between Sister Amy Wallace, N.Z.A.N.S., and Mr. Edward Marsden. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. W. Fancourt, assisted by the Rev. 0. Stent. The bride was given away by Mr. H. Sanson, and wore a gown of white silk eolienne, and cream hat trimmed with tuDe, and carried a bouquet of lilies, roses, pink carnations, ard asparagus fern. Miss Christie was bridesmaid, and wore pale pink crystalline, and Leghorn hat trimmed with narrow black velvet ribbon and pink roses. She carried a bouquet of pale pink roses and pale blue delphinium. Mr. R. Marsden attended the bridegroom as best man.. Mr. and Mrs. Edward Marsden left later for Auckland. The bride's travelling costume was navy gabardine, with black crepe de chine hat, relieved with vieux rose.

The wedding was solemnised at All Saints' Cnurch, Kilbirnie, recently, of Mr. Alfred Carter, of Petone, and Miss Suggitt, of Kaitoke, lately a sister at the Wellington Hospital.

Sister Daisy Sage, late of Thames Hospital, was married on December 16th at Mount Eden Presbyterian Church, Auckland, to Mr. Wallace Francis Jones, of Wharepoa, Hauraki Plains. A reception was afterwards held at the home of the bride's sister, Mrs. G. M. Johnston at Mount Eden.

The engagement is announced between Nurse Miller, of St. Helens Hospital, Invercargill, and Mr. John Watt, of Southland.

A marriage has been arranged, and will shortly take place, between John Ernest Sampson, of Pacluumallai Estate, Anamallais, only son of the late Mr. E. E. Sampson, of 218 Ombersley Road, Worcester, and of Mrs. Sampson, and Winifred Anne, New Zealand Nursing Sister, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Bayliss, of Auckland, New Zealand, and neice of Mr. R. D. Anstead, Deputy Director of Agriculture, Planting Districts.

Sister Gebbie, recently returned from active service, and later on duty at Featherston Hospital, is engaged to Major McCurdy.

Miss Louie McNie, R.R.C., late Matron of Codford Hospital, England, and now Matron of Pukeora Military Sanatorium, is about to be married to Major Buchanan, who recently returned from active service, and is rejoining the Mental Hospital Department, and will be stationed at Waitati, near Seacliff.

The engagement of Sister Lynette Mackenzie, who recently returned from active service, to Mr. Walls, also a returned soldier, is announced.

Sister Bawhiti de Lisle, daughter of Mrs. F. S. de Lisle, and the late Dr. de Lisle, of Hastings, Hawke's Bay, is engaged to Lieut. C. A. Le Lievre, of Akaroa. Sister de Lisle returned from active service during last year.

The engagement is announced of Miss Madelene E. Bailey, N.Z.R.N., late Staff Nurse, Christchurch Hospital, to Mr. R. J. Ware, O'Kain's Bay, Bank's Peninsula.
