Featherston Military Hospital
The recent complaints made concerning the management of the above hospital have caused much writing m the newspapers. As usual this is rather a storm m a teacup. No doubt it has been difficult to get all the equipment and replace all the wreckages required, and the matron and sisters have felt very impatient over the delay m the supply of the requisitions. In regard to some of the statements all nurses know how difficult it is to regulate the wearing apparel night and day of patients who are up and about. The outer man alone can be criticised by the sister, and had many of the
ordinary ones the fullest supply of suitable underwear, who could guarantee that he would wear it ? The weighty responsibility of matron which, since Sister Gilmer's departure on the Willochra, had been temporally assumed by Sister Margaret Watt, was certainly rendered difficult by the constant change of orderlies, and we feel much sympathy with Sister on the unmerited slur which has been cast upon her by some enthusiastic persons who yre not aware of the full circumstances, and who do not understand the management of military or, indeed, any other hospitals.
