Resignations, Appointments, Etc.

Miss Dora Giffney, who has been on sick-leave from the Whangarei Hospital, has now resigned her position as matron. Miss Giffney has made a good recovery from her serious illness and operations.

Miss Browne has resigned the position of Matron of Te Waikato Sanatorium, and has been appointed Matron of the Knox Home for Incurables. An account of the farewell and presentation to Miss Browne at Te Waikato, where she was highly appreciated, is m another column.

Sister Alice Martyn, of the staff of the Rotorua Military Hospital, who has seen several years' military service abroad, has been appointed matron.

Miss Wilkinson, Matron of the Masterton Hospital, has resigned that position.

Miss Wilson, Matron of the Thames Hospital, has resigned, and Sister C. Hawkins, a trainee of the Hospital, who recently returned to the Dominion after nearly four years' service with the Expeditionary Force, has been appointed Matron.

Nurse Torrance has been appointed to a new position under the Education Department m connection with infant-welfare work. Nurse Torrance has for some years been District Nurse m Dunedin.

Mrs. Cooper (Nurse Johnston), trained at Wellington Hospital, and who was for some years on the staff of Te Waikato Sanatorium, has been appointed Matron of the Pleasant Valley Sanatorium, Palmerston South, recently resigned by Miss Sold.

Miss Louisa Evans, who was recently appointed Matron of the Kawakawa Hospital has with* the Sister, Nurse Stack, resigned that position. Conditions at that Hospital appear to prevent any nurse remaining for more than a very short time.

Miss Ida Willis, A.R.R.C., who, after returning from active service, was Matron of Foatherston Hospital, has recently been acting as assistant to the Matron-in-Chief during the return and demobilization of the Army Sisters.

Miss Ruth Gilmer, on the return of the Hospital Ship ' Marama ' which left New Zealand finally without a nursing staff, and is not to return here, was posted as Matron of Featherston Camp Hospital. Miss Gilmer left m the Willochra as nurse m charge of the German prisoners and their wives and children on their way home.

Nurse Reid has resigned the position of School Nurse m Napier.

Sister Buckley, A.R.R.C, has resigned from the Army Nursing Service, and intends to have a long holiday with her people.

Sister Jean Cormack has also resigned from the Army Nursing Service, and has returned to her native health work at Te Karaka.

Nurse Jones, trained at Christchurch St. Helens Hospital has been appointed SubMatron of that institution.

Nurse Cowen, of the Palmerston North Hospital, had been promoted to the position of sister.

Sister Sim is appointed assistant to the Matron at Invercargill Hospital.

Nurse Violet Opie, who was trained at the Christchurch Hospital, and afterwards at St. Helens Hospital, Christchurch, has accepted the position of matron of the Pongaroa Medical Association Hospital.

Miss Gertrude Hall has resigned the Matronship of the Samoa Hospital, and returned to New Zealand m April.

Miss Murray is still sister at the Samoa Hospital, and finds the work very interesting, especially among the Natives, and m training the Native girl probationers.

Wellington Hospital. Sister Suggitt, Out-patient Sister, has left to be married. Nurse Palmes has been promoted to be sister, theatre duty. Nurse D. Gray to be ward sister. Nurse Barbara Mackenzie to be sister of the eye ward and theatre.

Sister Bonisch, of Invercargill Hospital, is Mrs. Kaverly and lives at Wanganui.

Masseuse Ruby Millar (now Tennent) recently returned to New Zealand with her husband, She writes that they have bought a little farm called k; Parkhill," out of Takapau, and settled there m April.

Sister Young (Sister Jean Muir), late of Marama staff, is about to settle down m her home at Lake Coleridge, where her husband is now engaged.

The following members of the N.Z.A.N.S. have recently been married : — Sister E. C. Watters, now Mrs. Hewitt; Sister I. C. Ancell, now Mrs. Ellis ; Sister A. Metze, Mrs. Falconer ; and Sister L. Jessep, Mrs. Kay.

Nurse Muriel Mercer, who trained m Dunedin, is now Mrs. Murray. She is residing at Rotorua.

Nurse Sarah Jemison, of New Plymouth Hospital, who passed the recent State examination, is now Mrs. Southam, and is living at Westown, New Plymouth.

Miss Emily Bishop, late of the staff of the Hospital Ship * Maheno,' and of the Private Hospital, Greymouth, has been appointed Matron.

Miss Laurie Anderson , a Townley St . Helens trained midwife, is now Mrs. Lake, and resides at Oheta Station, Cape Runaway.
