State Examination of Midwives, 7th June, 1916

Time allowed : Three hours.

1. Describe the symptoms that would lead you to suspect that a primipara, nearly three months pregnant;, was suffering from a retrovexted uteius. 2. What may be the significance of slight haemorrhage occurring periodically during the first few months of pregnancy ? 3. What are the causes of delay m the third stage of labour ? Give the appropriate treatment of each. 4. What are the conditions that produce a rise of temperature m the course of the first week or ten days of the puerperium ? 5. Describe carefully the management of infant-feeding from birth up to the end of the first month, including the care of the mother's breasts. 6. How would you deal with the following infantile disorders : Colic, constipation, diarrhoea, convulsions, thrush ?
