A Mothers' Tea Party
At St. Helens Hospital, Wellington, on 26tb March, was held another Mothers' Tea Party, at which the mothers with infants of 3 to 9 months assembled. In spite of a wet afternoon about 50 mothers attended and enj oyed the meeting with each other and their nurses, and the showing-off of their babies. A very fine lot of babies were there. Advantage was taken of the occasion to make aj£ presentation to Dr. Agnes Bennett on the eve of her departure to Europe, to serve during the war. The Honourable Mr. Rhodes, who had
m an informal way motored up, bringing Mrs. Massey to the gathering, kindly made the presentation on behalf of the Matron and Nurses past and present. The gifts were a very fine pair of field glasses and a Kaiapoi rug, and were both much appreciated by the recipient who thanked the nurses and said that the way to make their work felt throughout New Zealand was to be earnest and thorough. The presence of Miss Vida Mac Lean, who had just returned from Samoa, added to the pleasure of the meeting.
