GENERAL MEETINGS.

A general meeting was held m the Hospital Board Room at 8 p.m. on Wednesday July 19th. In the absence of Miss IyloydIvees, through illness, Miss Hood proposed Miss Butterworth seconded : — -That the resolution arrived at by voting paper, re fees m cases where two nurses are engaged at one case, be rescinded, and the question be decided by mail ballot." Dr. Acland m speaking to the motion was strongly m favour of no further notice being taken of the matter beyond its being rescinded, Miss Hood agreeing to this, the mot on on being put to the meeting was carried. passed at the special general meeting on June 12th be rescinded. Dr. Giesen gave a very instructive and interesting lecture on Puerpural Fever.

On being put to the meeting for confirmation, Miss Hood objected, after an explanation by the president, she withdrew her objections, and the minutes on being put to the meeting were confirmed. Before beginning the business of the evening the president spoke of the loss to the Association by the death of Sister Griffiths, one of its original and most active members. She proposed : *" that this meeting wishes to put on record the loss the Association has sustained by the death of Sister Griffiths." The members signified their approval by standing. Dr. Acland's motion in connection with the nurses fees was next brought forward for discussion. Dr. Acland proposesd : "that this branch of the New Zealand Trained Nurses Association does not favour any special regulation of fees when two nurses are attending one case/' This was seconded by Mrs. Lester, and carried. The next business was Miss Hood's motion. ' that the resolutions passed at the special general meeting, held on June 12th, be rescinded." Miss Hood proposed the motion and spoke in support of it, Miss Trask supported and seconded the motion. Before putting the resolution to the meeting for discussion the president requested the members to ask any questions they wished, and they should be answered without any reserve, she also asked that they should confine their remarks as far as possible to this particular subject. Many members spoke on the question. After much discussion the resolution on being put to the meeting was lost, the majority voting against it. * * * *

A general meeting was held at the Hospital on Wednesday September 20th. A letter was read by the president from Miss Bicknell regarding a memorial for Florence Night-

ingale, but no decision was arrived at on the subject. Mrs Newell then entertained the meeting m a most delightful manner, reciting extracts from the works of Shakepeare, and other poets.

* * * * At a Council meeting held on Sept lst,

the president proposed the following motion : " that this Council wishes to express its sympathy with Mrs. Lelievre on the loss of her sister Miss Iyloyd-I,ees, whose good work on behalf of the Association has been much appreciated by all its members." The motion was carried m silence, the members standing.
