Otago
The past three months have been rather uneventful as far as our brsftich of the Association is concerned. There has not been much business to transact at the general meetings, and no lectures have been given. Instead of having a lecture m July, Mr. Rawson entertained the members, on the evening of the 29th, with some splendid limelight views taken by himself. He took us m and around Dunedin to veritable fairylands of beauty, and we were charmed with the beauties revealed to us. Never before had we realised that so many lovely spots were to be found so near to our doors. From Dunedin he took us to Oueenstown and other places of beauty, and lest we should be wearied of so much scenery he interposed slides of a lighter nature. We sincerely hope that Mr. Rawson may be good enough to show us further views at some future time. In August our branch held a social evening to welcome Miss McKenzie, the
new lady superintendent of the Dunedin Hospital. The social was held m the Dominion Tea Rooms, and over a hundred nurses and doctors were present. Dr. Will, m the name of the Association, welcomed Miss McKenzie to Dunedin, and also extended the same welcome to Miss Nelson, the new matron of Karitane, while Dr. Marshall Macdonald gave a short address to the nurses. Several songs and musical items, and conversation, all helped us to pass a most enjoyable evening, and it was a good opportunity for members to meet and become better acquainted.
In September we were to have held a garden party, but as the weather was not suitable, it had to be postponed till the weather became more settled.
Several new members joined our branch, while one or two have left the district, and wish to be transferred to other centres.
