MR. MEADOWS RETIRES
The minutes of a meeting of the Executive held on 4 February, 1958, record the extension of a cordial welcome to Mr. L. R. Meadows, who had been appointed Secretary to the Society. Mr. Meadows immediately threw himself wholeheartedly . into the work of our organisation and quickly acquired a comprehensive knowledge of its many and varied activities. Even when travelling on holiday, Mr. Meadows considered it his duty to call upon branch and section representatives with whom he conducted official correspondence. He thus became known widely for his genial personality and his oft-expressed willingness to assist all those who have the aims and objects of our Society at heart. In this he was ably assisted by Mrs. Meadows, who rendered the Society much assistance in many ways. Acting on medical advice. Mr. Meadows reluctantly came to the decision that he must relinquish the post of Secretary, and he retired on 18 August, 1961. At a farewell function the President, Mr. R. C. Nelson, spoke on behalf of the Executive and told both Mr. and Mrs. Meadows how much their efforts on behalf of the Society were appreciated. He then presented Mr. Meadows with a cheque as an expression of the esteem in which he was held by the Executive with whom he had worked so loyally. and efficiently. Mrs. Meadows was the recipient of a shoulder spray.
