An inquest was held on the 11th inst., before J. W. S. Coward, Esq., Coroner, upon the body of Alice Agnes Thomas, aged 11 years, who was killed on the 10th inst., by the overturning of a dray upon the West Coast Road, near the Miners’ Arms. The night was dark and the road very bad, and the wheel of the dray going into a hole caused it to capsize upon its occupants, and the girl died very shortly after being extricated. The jury returned a verdict of “Accidental death.”

An inquest was held on the 13th inst., before J. W. S. Coward, Esq., Coroner, upon the body of Walter Aston Dearden, aged 28 years, whose death resulted from the upsetting of a coach on the Sumner Road, on the 24th May, 1873. It appeared from the evidence that the accident was caused by the carelessness and recklessness of the driver Thomas Crisp, against whom the jury returned a verdict of “ Manslaughter,” and he has since been committed for trial at the ensuing session of the Supreme Court.
