Stolen.
Stolen, on the 2nd ult., an old saddle, much worn, the lining good, stirrup leathers made of shoemakers’ leather, small knee pads, the cheeks of stirrup irons larger at bottom than top, an old bridle with rusty snaffle-bit, one of the reins has been broken near buckle, and repaired —value £2: the property of August N eugerschwender, Oxford Eoad, Eangiora.
Stolen, on the 7th ult., two £5 notes, Bank of New Zealand; the property of John Palmer, of Lyttelton. Harriett Handley, a servant girl in Mr. Palmer’s employment, is suspected.
Stolen, on the 4th ult., from the Kaiapoi Livery Stables, Kaiapoi, a silver-mounted catgut riding whip, with a piece of sheepskin plaited to make a lash, the cracker bound with black thread—valued at 15s. ; the property of Robert Noble, of Eangiora. A man, whose name is not known, but described as follows, is suspected :—An Englishman, 22 years of age, sft. Bin. high, slight build, fair complexion, fair hair, no beard, whiskers, or moustache ; dressed in light tweed suit, Wellington boots, straw hat; had the appearance of a groom.
Stolen, on the 7th ult., a silver lever hunting watch, No 7452, with C Gr under the number —valued at £8 —from the Pigeon Bay Hotel; the property of Robert Munro, the landlord. The offender is supposed to be one of a large party of excursionists who were at the hotel.
Stolen, on the 16th ult., from the yard of E. Acton, butcher, Timaru, a bar of iron about 16ft. long, 2in. broad, fin. thick, one end curved for about 6 feet; was used in the shop for hanging meat on.
Stolen, on the 24th ult., from Plough Inn, Riccarton, a nearly new coloDial-made saddle, hogskin seat, deep scratch across seat, one of the stirrup spring bars out of repair ; also new snaffle bridle with rusty bit. The owner, John Collett, was returning from the races and lost his horse, saddle, and bridle on the road; he has since recovered the horse, but without saddle or bridle.
