[Extract from Otago Police Gazette , of 28th February, 1871, p. B.] A Warrant has been issued at Oamaru for the arrest of Robert Marshall Simpson, charged with deserting his wife Marian Simpson, at Oamaru, on the 21st ult. He is a cook, 45 years of age, sft. 9in. high, stout build, fair complexion, sandy beard, whiskers and moustache, light blue eyes, dressed in cord trousers, grey tweed sack coat, and hat and watertight boots.

A Warrant has been issued for the arrest of William G-illon, charging him with a violent assault on John Mesham. He is described as a Scotchman, 30 years of age, about 6ft. high, stout build, brown hair, goatee beard, cast in left eye, generally dressed in black felt hat, moleskin trousers, and watertight boots; wears his hat down over his left eye; generally goes about the country doing havest or other farm work. Warrant filed in Commissioner’s office.
