A wabbant has been issued by the Christchurch Bench for the apprehension of the person described below, charged with forging the name of R. H. Rhodes to a cheque for £9 10s., on the Bank of Australasia, and uttering the same to William Cuddon, Tuam street, Christchurch:—A female, about 23 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, medium build, pale thin features, dark hair and large chignon, genteel appearance ; wore a brown dress, black silk jacket, and brown hat with gossamer fall.
William James Alexandeb is charged on warrant, issued by the Bench at Christchurch, for refusing to support his illegitimate male child by Maria M'Connell. He is a native of County Down, Ireland, farm labourer, about 28 years of age, 6 feet high, stout build, fair complexion, fair hair, beard and moustache, blue eyes, round features, high forehead, straight nose, medium chin, mouth rather large, regular teeth, round shoulders, slovenly gait; general appearance that of a labourer.
A wabbant has been issued by the Bench at Christchurch lor the apprehension ol the person described below, for having violently assaulted Ann Pannett on the banks ol the Avon, opposite the Carlton 1 Intel, Papanui. A lad, about sixteen years of a< r e, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, fair complexion, medium build, dressed m light trousers, dark coat, and lmhtcoloured cap, much soiled.
John Mabtin, alias Wylie, is charged on warrant, issued by the Timaru Bench, with obtaining by false pretences, at Temuka, in this province, from John Kahu (a Maori), a chesnut mare, saddle, and bridle, since recovered. The offender is about twenty-seven years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, fair complexion, light hair, sandy whiskers and moustache, grey eyes, thin sharp features, Roman nose, dressed m dark cloth jacket, Bedford cord trousers, brown leather gaiters, with four buckles on the outside, lace-up boots, and old cabbage-tree hat, with black ribbon. Crossed the upper Ferry, Waitangi, on the 9th ult., under the name of J. E. Hurs, and stated he was going to McLean’s station. It is likely he will make for Lake Wanaka or the Dunstan, where he is well known.

Desebteb fbom H.M. Sebyice. Deserted on the 22nd instant, from H.M.I. 14th Regiment at Hobart Town, private Robert Robert Smith,. No. 1508, thirty-eight years old, 5 feet 8f inches high, fresh complexion, brown hair, hazel eyes ; native place, Brunley ; enlisted at Manchester ; trade, a butcher ; wore plain clothes. Supposed to have sailed for Auckland, New Zealand, per Bella Mary, on the 24th inst.

Ineobmation is requested respecting William Lambert or Lambourne, per Henry Porcher, 1835. He is about fifty-eight years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, has a large triangular scar on centre of forehead, caused by the kick of a horse. Lambert received a ticket of leave in the month of February, 1856, for the district of Goulburn. Information to the Inspector General of Police.
Ineobmation is requested respecting John Albert Lovell, who left his father’s house at Sydney in the year 1858, and was last heard of on the Namoi River in 1861, when he requested his letters to be addressed to John Corrigan, Namoi River. Description of Lovell at the time he left home:—About sixteen years of age, 5 feet high, fair complexion, round face, light hair, light hazel eyes, a native of Somersetshire, England. Information to the Inspector General of Police.
Ineobmation is requested respecting Thomas Allen, per “York,” 1831,21 years on arrival, native of Bristol, smith and chain maker, 5 feet 3f inches high, dark ruddy complexion and pock-pitted, dark brown hair, grey eyes. Information to the Inspector General of Police.

Ineobmation is requested respecting John Guard of Campbelltown, who left One-Tree Hill about the Bth September last, and has not since been heard of. He is about forty years of age, 5 feet 11 inches high, fair complexion, dark brown hair, sandy whisker; a native ot Cornwall, England; a blacksmith. Information to the Inspector General of Police.

Information is requested respecting Robert Osbourn, who left Rattlesden, Suffolk, for Tasmania in 1839. He is said to have entered the services of a Mr. Barthaino, of the Cross Marsh, soon after his arrival in the colony, and remained in the same employ until 1844. This inquiry is made by his sou George.

William Maxwell, aged 28, dark complexion, very sore eyes, 5 feet 8 inches high. Left Adelaide Hospital on the 13th October, 1868, was last heard of at the Exeter Hotel, Adelaide, on the Ist instant. He is well known at Wallaroo, where he has been employed in the smelting works ; he also follows the
occupation of a shepherd. This enquiry is made at the instigation of his brother Richard Maxwell.

Information is requested respecting John Reilly, present age about 40, 5 feet 7 inches high, dark complexion, hazel eyes, good teeth, usually wears beard and whiskers ; a County Cavan man, farmer. Passenger to Melbourne by “ Great Britain,” January, 1863; last heard of at Woods’ Point, about September, 1865, being at that time part owner of a claim at Woods’ Point, jointly with Edward Lynch and Cooney. He returned thence to Melbourne with about £3OO. He is likely to have gone to New Zealand, 6th October, 1868.

Information is requested respecting Bertram Lespinasse de Wilton, aged 29, 5 feet 8 inches high, strong and active, fair complexion, blue eyes, dark eyebrows, bright light brown hair, full beard, &c., stammering speech, reserved and gentle manners, and steady habits, though changeable as to his mode of life. He is supposed to have joined the “ Offley” on a whaling expedition from Hobart Town, under the name of William Wallace, 21st October, 1868.
