Stolen.
Stolen, sometime in the beginning of August from Hursley, near Leithfield, six turkeys (old birds) of a grey color ; the property of W. H. Simms, Esq.
Stolen, during the night of the 16tli inst. from off a clothes line in the garden at the private residence of M. B. Hart, White Hart Hotel, Christchurch, the followung articles: —Two table cloths, stained with coffee, and marked “White Hart” on one corner: three sheets, with same mark in one corner; one white shirt, marked “ Mace ;” one night-shirt, marked “ Shepherd ” inside the breast; one spmtted shirt, six pillow-cases, marked “ White Hart” on top of seam; one child’s red flannel frock, trimmed with black cord ; one ditto red petticoat with with black stripes ; one ditto white flannel night-gown ; one large white flannel shirt; one pair knitted drawers, large size ;
one pair blue ribbed stockings; one pair drab stockings, with, fancy work on the legs. All identifiable.
Stolen, between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. of the 25th ult., from a dwelling in Montreal-street west, Christchurch, a cash-box, containing three £1 notes, and 3s. and 6d.’ in silver: the property of Thomas Ward. The case, at present, appears doubtful.
Between midnight of the 28th and 6 a.m of the 29th September, the premises of Robert Gilkes, baker, Colombo-street, was burglariously entered, and a Japanned cash-box, containing two £1 notes, bank and numbers unknown, 20s. in silver, a small silver snuff-box, about an inch square, and a number of receipts. Cash-box and receipts recovered: snuffbox identifiable. A man named Charles Samuels, alias Barnes, suspected : he is an Englishman, 33 years of age, 5 feet 11 inches high, medium build; dark complexion, dark hair, black whiskers worn under chin, upper lip shaved ; dressed in suit of dark clothes, white felt deerstalker hat ; general appearance that of a clerk or storeman.
