Desertion from H.M.S.S. “ Brisk,” while lying in Lyttelton Harbour.
Thomas Cuthbert, A. 8., a native of Perthshire’ aged 23, 5 ft. 5 in. high, hair dark, eyes dark, com- * plexion sallow ; received two days leave on the 26th ult., hut did not return to his ship.
A warrant has been issued by the Christchurch Bench, for the apprehension of William Kennedy, charged with deserting his illegitimate child ; he is an Irishman, 26 years old, 5 ft. 5 in. high, medium build, thin face, fair complexion, long straight nose, light straight hair sickly appearance ; supposed to have gone to Wellington about the latter end of July last, and that his wife and child followed him shortly afterwards.
Christchurch, February 15, 1867
A WARRANT has been issued by the Hokitika Bench for the apprehension of a man, —name unknowncharged with stabbing and wounding with intent to do griveous bodily harm to Alice Cordier, of Hokitika. The offender is about 5 ft. 7 in. high, medium build, brown hair, moustache and tuft on chin of a reddish colour, no whiskers ; about 28 years of age; wore dark cloths, black hat with white turban. Can be identified by Cordier.
A warrant has been issued for the apprehension of two men named Malony and Harrington, charged with having on the 27th ult., committed a violent assault on one George M. Stewart, storekeeper, Black Sand Lead, Saltwater Creek. Malony is an Irishman, 26 years of age, 5 ft. 7 in. high, stout build, fair whiskers, beard and moustache. Harrington is an Irishman, 23 years of age, 5 ft. 11 in. high, dark beard, whiskers and moustache, thin sharp features, soldier like appearance. Supposed to be still about the Black Lead.
