Inquests.
An inquest was held at Okarita on the 23rd July, before M. Price, Esq., Coroner, on the body of a man, name unknown, who was found drowned. Verdict—- “ Found drowned, but from what cause unknown.” Description—s feet 8 inches high, brown hair, slight beard on chin, rest of face clean-shaved; a printed form was found on the body, with the name of Timothy Kirby inserted thereon.
An inquest was held at the Bangitata on the 23rd July, before Dr. Crofts, Coroner, on the body of Thomas Levick, labourer, aged twenty-five years, who died from congestion of the lungs. Verdict—“ Died from natural causes.
An inquest was held at the Hinds Biver on the 27th July, before Dr. Crofts, Coroner, on the body of James D. Bodgers, aged thirty-eight years, who committed suicide by cutting his throat. Verdict— Suicide while labouring under temporary insanity.
An inquest was held at Boss on the 30th July, before S. Beswick, Esq., Coroner, on the body of August Zechelius, miner, aged fifty years, who was killed in a shaft, it is supposed from a stone falling from the bucket while ascending the shaft, and striking him on the back of the head. Verdict—Accidental death.
An inquest was held at Lincoln, Christchurch district, on the 9th instant, before J. W. S. Coward, Esq., Coroner, on the body o f Betsy 80110, aged six years, who died of congestion of the lungs. Verdict— Natural causes.
An inquest was held at the Lunatic Asylum, Christchurch, on the 14th instant, before J. \V. S. Coward, Esq., Coroner, on the body of Bobert Jones, aged thirty-eight years, who died of exhaustion. Verdict — Natural causes.
