Alered Thomas Mellows is charged, on warrant issued by the Christchurch Bench, with wife desertion ; he is an Englishman, 28 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, hazel eyes, dark brown hair, no whiskers or moustache, youthful looking features, but rather sickly, round shouldered; supposed to be in the Oxford District, where he has purchased some land.

William Whittle is charged, on warrant, with deserting his children at Dunedin, on the 22nd day of December, 18G4. He is 30 years of age, 5 feet 10 in. high, stout build, fair complexion and hair, little or no whiskers, clean shaved; a labourer; was seen at Hokitika about two months ago, in company with a man named Bevelin, with whom he is supposed to be at work.
