Deserters from Merchant Vessels.
Deserted on the night of the 4th ultimo, from the ship “ British Empire,” Captain Callenan, lying at Port Lyttelton —four seamen : 1. Thomas J. Potter, an Englishman, 22 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high ; ruddy complexion, fair liui r and whiskers, no moustache ; walks with his hands in hispockets, good looking, shews his teeth when talking. 2. J ohn Wise, an Irish Londoner, 21 years of age, 5 feet high ; dark complexion, dark hair and whiskers. 3. Joseph Bates, an Englishman, 25 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high; sandy hair and whiskers, no moustache, broad face, large mouth, fair complexion, rolling gait.
4. John Brien, an Irish Londoner, 19 years of age, 5 feet high; very stout build, short legs ; dark hair and complexion, small whiskers.
Deserted on the night of the 3rd ultimo, from the ship Mirage, Captain Campbell, lying at Port Lyttelton —two seaman:
1. Daniel Hagertt, an Irishman, 29 years of age o feet 5 inches high; very thin build, thin face, fair hair and whiskers, and small moustache.
2. Lawrence Bruce, a Scotchman, 26years of age 5 feet 7 inches high, stout build; freckled full face • small black whiskers, black hair ; speaks with a Scotch accent.
