Escaped Prisoner.

Escaped from the custody of the "Wardor at Christchurch, on the 23rd instant, Daniel Neate, an Englishman, 28 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, rather slender build, 10 stone weight, dark complexion, grey eyes, dark hair, very little beard, moustache, and whiskers, long thin features, high cheekbones, long nose, slightly inclined to left side of the face, two front teeth in under jaw projecting inwards, marked with the letter D under left breast, is of a nervous temperament; his general appearance is that of a soldier. Neate surrendered himself up to the custody of the Police here on the 11th of March last, as a deserter from the 58th and 65th Regiments of Foot, Auckland. —24th April, 1864.

Hobart —On the 24th instant a warrant was issued by Fielding Brown, and is now in the Office of the Inspector of Police, Hobart, for the arrest of James Young, an insolvent, lately of O’Brien’s Bridge, charged with having failed without lawful impediment to attend at the Insolvent Court, Hobart Town, on the 24th instant, not having his final discharge. Description—32 years old, 5 feet 9 inches high, fair complexion, light hair, whiskers, and moustache, stoops a little ; has been buying horses from interior of Colony for the New Zealand market; generally wears spurs and carries a whip. Is supposed to be making for New Zealand via Launceston.
