There is 110 permanent boat's crew under the present regulations, but the Preventive Officers employed a crew when their services are required, at the cheapest rate. I beg, on this point, to refer you to the instructions issued by me to the Preventive Officers; copy of which, and translation, I furnished with my Report. I have this day authorised Mr. Shand to draw upon me for one hundred pounds sterling, as instructed by you ; perhaps you will be kind enough to give the necessary instructions to me, as Sub-Treasurer, to furnish the money out of the General Revenue.
