REPORTS Special Report I have the honour to report that at its meeting held on Friday, the 14th day of July, the following motion was unanimously agreed to, members standing : " The Maori Affairs Committee desires to record its high sense of the great and most distinguished services rendered to the Maori race by the late Honourable Sir Apirana Turupa Ngata and its appreciation of the unforgettable services rendered by the late honourable gentleman as a member of this Committee ; further, the Committee desires to express its sincere and profound sympathy with his relatives in their great sorrow. The Canoe of Fate has taken a most illustrious Chief from us. Haere Ra ! Farther it was resolved that this resolution be recorded in the minutes and reported to the House and a copy sent to the relatives of the late honourable gentleman." 20th July, 1950. Including one petition brought forward from last session, the Committee had fifteen petitions to deal with ; eleven of them were reported on to the House and four are held over. Special Report I have the honour to report that at its final meeting the Maori Affairs Committee unanimously passed the following resolution : " That the Maori Affairs Committee desires to express its appreciation of the efficient and courteous manner in which the Chairman, Mr. Sim, has conducted the business of the Committee during the session, and that this resolution be reported to the House."
