SOCIAL EVENING

MISS JOYCE WAINWRIGHT HONOURED

Miss Joyce Wainwright, whose marriage takes place shortly, was the guest of honour at a social evening held in the Methodist Church on Tuesday. Community singing, competitions, an organ solo by Miss Hogg, of Masterton and items by Mr. CK Weidenbohm on the piano accordian were greatly enjoyed. . Mr. R. E. Moore, in the absence of tho Kev. W. J. Henderson, spoke of the high esteem in which Miss Wainwright was held by church members and friends, and asked her to accept a small gift, with all good wishes for a happy and prosperous future.

Mr. H. Locker and Mr. Parkinson also spoke and endorsed Mr. Moore’s remarks and wished Miss Wainwright every happiness. Mr. Clarkson thanked the speakers for their kind remarks and good wishes and for the thoughtful gift. A dainty supper served by the ladies and the singing of Anld Laag Syne brought a very pleasant evening’ to a close.
