CENTENNIAL MEMORIAL

MEETING OF COMMITEE .A meeting of the committee of the local Centennial Memorial was held on Tuesday, His Worship the Mayor presiding. Or, F. Xaismith, Mr. H. Boagey and the Town Clerk Mr. L. IV. Austin were also present. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. The Town Clerk reported that he hud received word from Mr. H. G. Dickie M.P., accepting the invitation to open the baths. Mr. Boagey reported that a procession lad been arranged and that after the opening a short sports programme would be he'd in the baths. It was decided that a recommendation of the Programme Committee that the opening bo at 2.45 p.m. be adopted. It was decided that the speeches bo confined to His Worship the Maxtor, the chairman of the Harbour Board, County Council and Mr. 11. G. Dickie M. P. The question of Centennial celebrations for Patea was considered. The Town Clerk stated that February 3 I, and 5 had boon allotted to Patea. It ws unanimously decided that a sports meeting be held in the Domain on the Saturday, a band concert, assisted lyr a combined choir on the Sunday night, to be followed by a Centennial Ball on the Monday.
