,3. That Mr. J. Parkinson be granted permission to construct a motor crossing over the footpath in Warwick Street, such crossing to be made to the satisfaction of the engineer. 4. That tenders bo called' for the erection of a new workshop for the use of the electric light department, and that the old budding be demolished as soon as the new structure is completed. That the matter of altering the purpose of the land used at present for the workshop be investigated by the Town Clerk. (i. That the appointment cf Mr. Lawrence Arthur Percival as temporary electrical inspector be confirmed. 7. 'That immediately funds allow the bulldozer be employed in funning Norfolk and Kent Streets. 8. ‘That unemployed labour be utilised iu clearing the old pound site. 9. That the bitumen sealing programme be recommenced during the present month, ,10. That the newly formed footpaths be metalled as soon as circumstances permit. 11. .REPORT OF STREETS SUPERVISOR AND ELECTRICAL ENGINEER HYDRO STATION: During the month this station lias run in a satisfactory manner and the water supple aas boon sufficient for the rwjuirea.euts of the station. BULK SUPPLY: The power from this source has boon continuous anti no interruptions have occurred. The Power Board have now completed the hcavv lino as far as the' borough feeder and a distinct improvement is noticeable in pressure. A new culvert was also laid in this area to carry off storm water. Routine attention has been ven to various streets and grass cut and generally -tidied up. Fine shingle is now available from the Harbour Board, and while the fine weather holds it would perhaps be advisable to divert the labour to sealing work. A great improvement could bo made in the time taken to spray the emulsion if a suitable small hopper type petro] engine was fitted to same. It may be possible to purchase one very cheaply and this could easily be fit-

That the council agrees to pay the annual fee required to have the telephones of members of the brigade and of the electrical engineer connected with the Fire Brigade, during such tjimes as the telephone exchange is closed.
