FLOOD LIGHTING THE DOMAIN
To The Editor ■' \ . Sir.— Could I ask for space in your paper to bring before all who are in any way interested ' the use that the Domain could be put to if flood lighted? The past two Wednesdays there have been record entries for the. evening runs. These runs begin at six o’clock at night, l a very inconvenient hour. Most of the competitors' are from the country, and it is only owing to the present state of the dairying industry that they have been able to get in on time. Now sir, if these runs could be held later, I believe w 0 could get more competitors. A few year? ‘ ago, an Electric Light sports miccting was held on the Domain and proved a great success. Then the .lights were put up temporary. If the lights had been of a permanent nature, the local Athletic Association would have made, a good profit by now. I am sure that two or three meetings would pay the .cost of the installation of the lights. Most of the towns between here and New Plymouth have their evening meetings. Why not Pa,tea? Saturday’s functio n also proved what can be done with the Pomain lighted. I know t ; lie public are asked to subscribe to other things at present, but could not this also be included iu the Centennial Memorial Celebrations , , I am etc., “ATHLETE. ”
