CHILDREN’S FANCY DRESS BALL A very successful children's fancy dress ball was held in the Manutahi hpll on Friday. The evening commenced with a grand march, 'the fancy costumes of the children presenting a charming picture. During the evening Mr. A. B. Muggeridge, in a brief speech, paid .a warm tribute to Miss Hyland, who bind trained the children, and K.o Miss O'Sullivan, who had assisted with the music. Mr. Muggcridgc also thanked all those who had .helped to make the function ia success, particularly Mesdamies Veale pud Thomas, who had acted as judges . A Monte Carlo waltz was won by Mr. Hyland and Mrs. Pepper.

Prizes for the best costumes in the hall were won iby Pat Williams (Britannia) and Colin Barclay (Chinaman).
