HEALTH CAMPS
OONi’EJftENCE TO BE HELD ON JULY 10. In order to discuss the establishing of a general policy in regard to tho control of health camps, tlic Minister of Health, the Hon. P. Fraser, has called a conference of those iutercste-.; in the movement to bo hold in Wellington on July 10. In making the announcement, tho Minister said that the rapid extension of the scheme had made its consideration from a Dominion viewpoint desirable if the best results were, to bo obtained, and the time had come for a general policy to be* determined to ensure that available resources were utilised to the bcss advantage. Much experience had been obtained in recent years by health camp organisations in various parts of the Dominion and discussion' between representatives from various organisations woild be of considerable value in outlining a general scheme for the conduct of these camps, which, while safeguarding the interests of individual would prevent overlapping and ensure the greatest benefit to the children in relation to expenditure.
“The Conference, ’' said Mr. Fraser, “will consider the desirability of organising tho health camp movement throughout Now Zealand under a national society on a voluntary basis. The extent of tho State co-operation will be outlined, in tho matter of expert direction; and control, the granting of facilities for holding health camps by utilising public reserves and buildings, and also in the matter of financial assistance. to be expected by way of subsidy from the sale of health camps or other funds."
