MAJOR MOTOR SERVICES. • GOVERNMENT 'S INTENTIONS. One or two of the major . motor transport services in New Zealand may he purchased soon :by t-lie State 'so thh.l they may be . run by the Railwlays Department, Tim Minister of Railways, the Hon. D. G. Sullivan, said that he had given instructions for negotiations to be opened for purchase by the Government of one or two major .transport lines which, it was considered, should be’ run by the Railways Department because of interests held by the Department in the particular areas they serve, it was emphasised by Mr. Sullivan, however, that there was no irttention to embark on a general policy' .of • acquiring such*soryices.
