NAVAL OFFICERS SHOT AT
ACT OF TURKISH SENTRIES. HEAVY FIRE ON SAIL BOAT. A .'■■ailing boat belonging to H.M.S. Devonshire, containing three olliccrs of that ship, was heavily fired on by Turkish sentries on (he mainland opposite the island of Samos at about ? p.m. on Saturday, reports the Admiralty. Surgeon Lieutenant Dentist J. A, Robinson, R.N., was hit and lost overboard. Lieutenant D. A. K, Maunsell, R.N., received flesh wounds in the shoulder.
H.M.S. Devonshire is at present on a visit to the Greek island of Samos, which adjoins the Turkish coast. The matter is being urgently investigated through the usual diplomatic channels.
