THE PATEA ASSOCIATION. TOURNEY TO BE HELD ON AUGUST 6. A meeting of the committee of the Patca Boxing Association was hold on Wednesday night, His Worsh’p the Mayor presiding. Messrs. L. Hunt, J Bourkc, A. H. Langslow, F. S. Me Kenna, F. Naismith, M. Sumich, C. R. Honeyficld, D. Ansley, and I lie secret ary wore also present. An apology was received from Mr. L. If. Davies for non-attendance. The minutes of the previous mooting were read and confirmed. The secretary reported that every endeavour had been made to put on a tournament, and application for permission- to run a tournament had been made on two occasions, and both had to be cancelled owing to clashing with other functions. It was at first proposed to hold a tournament on July 18, but it was found that the Wanganui Association wore holding a tournament on this night between Taranaki and Wanganui boys. >Thc match committee waited on the Wanganui Association to see if they could arrange to filter the date of their fixture, but after patiently listening to the Pates, deputation it was explained that this was impossible, as the arrangements had gone too far. It was next suggested to hold the tournament on July 30, but as this was the night before the .Surf Club Ball, and that body having bo.okthc hall some five months ago, it was not thought fair to hold a tournament the night before their ball. August (! was available and it was for the meeting to decide the date. It was finally decided to Hold the tournament on Monday, August (5, and that included among the bouts be the following: HUTCHENS (Elthnm) v. CANDY (Palmerston North), 6 rounds for the Devics Cup. C. GORDON (Paten) v. J. JARVIS (Eltham). HUDSON (Otakcho, v. REID (Eltham).
