OAR STRUCK BY EXPRESS

TAIHAPE WOMAN INJURED,

Mrs. D. G.__6ordon, Taihapc, mother pf- 'seven children, suffered a fracture of the base of the skull and scalp lacerations when a car in which she was being driven to Whaugarci by Mr. W. R. Claris, Marua, a relative, with Whom she had been holidaying, was struck by an express at the Kamo level crossing on Wednesday. The victim is in hospital in a serious condition.

The car was almost over the line when Mrs, Gordon, realising the proximity of the train, called out, causing Mr. Claris to case his foot on the accelerator. But for this they would have escaped.
