MISS GAISFORD’S PLUCKY WIN. Wb.cn playing in a club champion ship match on the Hokowhitu links recently, the Dominion champion, Miss B. Gaisford, defeated Miss M. Garner On the 21st green. ■ Miss r Garncr was 2 up at the turn, 3 up at the 14th, with only four holes to go. Miss Gaisford won the next three succeeding holes, while the 18th was halved with the scores all square. The 10th and 20th were halved, but Miss Gaisford won the 21st with a birdie four. NOTES. The Royal and Ancient Golf Club has decided, following tests, to revise the standard golf scratch scores throughout the country. They are hoped to be in operation by January 1. The power of the ball has increased to such an extent that the present system is obsolete. ■ The - meeting of the lady members to arrange details of the supper at the golf ball has been postponed until 4 p.ra. on Friday, August 19, in the ‘Dress’ Office, on account of the fact that many members are visiting Hawera to-day for the football match.
