MURDER IN HOBART
OLD MiAN SHOT BY TWO MEN,
Cold-blooded murder was perpetrated on April 5 at Harrington Street, Hobart. The victim was Charles Whelan, aged (53, a watersider living alone. Ho was shot dead by two men who were later seen running away from the scene. A neighbour heard men demanding money in the vilest language. They heard Whelan's protests, then a shot and a curse. The neighbour followed the men for some distance. He then returned and found Whelan dead.
