THE PATEA CLUB. ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Patca Golf Club was held in the County Council chambers at 8 p.m. on Monday, Mr. C. It. Honeyfield presiding. Mrs. E. W. Harris, Mrs. H. A. Findlay, Mrs. J. A. Wither, Misses E. Harris, P. and E. Bourke, J. Thorburn, M. Glenny, M. Gilligan, L. Carey, W. Hemingway, and Messrs. 'G. Hughes, H. A. Findlay, W. H. Ecolc, N. Hunger, E. W. Harris, L. F. Eow, Ecv. Father Hegarty, J. A. Wither and E. C. Gilbert (joint lion, secretaries) were also present. Tho minutes' of the previous annual meeting were read and confirmed. Apologies for non-attendance were received from Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Glenny, Miss Taylor, Mrs. T. E. Eoberts, and Mr. E. D. Wybourne. ANNUAL EEPOKT. The annual report was read as follows: Finance: Tho season commenced with a credit balance of £5 12s 4d, and concluded with a credit balance of £3 7s Bd. This position may be regarded as satisfactory, when it is considered that despite the heavy expenditure on the greens, the club's indebtedness has been reduced by £25, £2O of Mr. Findlay's loan being paid off with interest on the whole and £5 of debentures being lifted. The biggest item of expenditure was wages. [This, with other green-keeping expenses, cost the club £95 2s fid, out of an income of £163 12s Id. Wages alone came to £B2 18s. an increase of £l9 5s over 1930 and of £33 11s 2d over 1929. However, members will all realise that the money spent on the greens was expended wisely, as the greens have every appearance of being in excellent condition for the coming season, although the new green at “Dead Easy," which accounted for most of the increase in the wages account, may not be available for play for the first few weeks of the season. Other items of general interest in the expenditure account arc tea, kerosene, and sugar, etc., £5 Is Bd, of which £3 2s fid is the actual expenditure on tea, sugar, and kerosene, the rest being other items appearing on the same account. Mr. Shaw's expense? came to £5 14s fid. A stove was bought for £4 at the beginning of the season, and from the saving in kerosene would appear to have paid for itself. There are no subscriptions outstanding.

Membership: The season’s membership was 39 men and 47 ladies. Matches: Enjoyable matches were ■played with all the usual clubs, with the exception of Maxwell. .With the more distant clubs one game only was played, in consideration of the wishes of the members as expressed at the last annual meeting..

Championships: The championship results arc as follows: Senior, Eev. Father Hegarty; junior, Mr. B. Currie; C Grade, Mr. L. HoneyJlcld. Ecmucra Cup; The Eemucra Cup was won by Mr. G. Hughes.

Ball: The annual ball was held in the 'Town Hall on September 1, and proved «i. great success. Many visiting golfers were' present, and were well looked after' by the masters of ceremonies. The net profit was £26 4s 4d.

Presentation of Trophies: The championship cups and the Rcmucra Cup were presented at the dinner held in the Central Hotel on November 12. The evening was thoroughly enjoyable foi all present.

' Thanks: We must again thank Messrs. C. R. and I. Honcyllcld for their generosity in allowing us the use of their property and assure them of our sincerity in this. We also wish to thank Mrs, Honey field, son., for h'ci kind donation of pictures. Thanks are alsio due to the Press for past favours. We must also thank all members, and especially the lady members, for assistance at all social functions.

In conclusion, w'C think it reasonable to claim that, the Patea Golf Club has every reason to consider that the past season, despite its difficulties and despite the general depression, has been a most successful one, and we feel sure that the club will continue to pros-

Thc annual balance-sheet, showing a credit balance of £3 7s Bd, and a balance of assets over liabilities of £2G4 12s 9d, was read; In moving tho adoption of the report and balance-sheet, the chairman congratulated the club on its position and the joint secretaries on their very comprehensive report. The links were in good order at the present time, but the greens were sadly in need of rain. He hoped to see the links ready for play in time for tho Easter holidays. A few improvements had been made, the fences at No. 2 being removed and No. 4 green shifted 50 yards to the left. “Dead Easy” green needed rain to put it in order, and should bo ready by tho middle of May. With the good feeling existing among members and the hearty co-operation of all, he was sure that it successful season was assured.
