BULK POWER FOR PATEA

CONTINUOUS SUPPLY THIS WEEK

An important step towards the supply of bulk power for Patca was made on Thursday, when the coupling of the transformers at the Ivakaranica sub station was conipdetcd. The main transformer, which w’cighs two and ahalf tons, breaks down the 11,000-volt supply to 3000 volts for Patca reticulation and is housed temporarily at ivakaranica, that being the most convenient point of supply for the time being.

After the wiring had been completed the power -was switched on by Mr. J. O. Cunningham, Patea electrical engineer, and Ivakaranica rvas supplied

for several minutes direct from bulk pow r or supply. Tests proved satisfactory and it is probable that a continuous supply Avill be arranged this tvcck.
