VALUELESS CHEQUES ISSUED
HA WEE A EX-GOLF PEOFESSIGNAL. TEEM OF PROBATION GRANTED. De-eribed jis a golf professional. C, W. Eitchic pleaded guilty to obtaining money and goods by false pretences. He was admitted to probation for two years and ordered to take ■ prohibition order. It was stated that he had been following his occupation at Hawera, but had been unemployed for six or seven mouths. He knew that he had v.e money in the bank, but issued a mini•or of cheques, mainly to hotel-keepers.
The excuse was made that he hm been on a drinking bout. For Ritchie it was urgcd ; that he would lose his profession, and it would be neeessar for him to follow some other occupation.
