The secretary reported that 1140 entries had already been received. He suggested that next year an open tyre race for boys and girls be included in the programme Mr. Jillett suggested that the rules of the A.A. with regard to relay races l.e adhered to and that lines 10 yards apart be drawn on the (rack within which the stick is to change hands. It was resolved that Mr. Jillctt’s suggestion be carried out, and that it bo a recommendation to next year’s committee that open tyre races be included in the sports programme as well as a girls’ high jump. The matter of sacks for suck races was left in the hands of Mr. youthcombo. Mr. Jillett brought forward the question of combined boys’ and girls' relay races for the small girls and boys. ,No action was taken in the matter. Mr. Tong brought forward the question of 'alteration in the present system of starting. Mr. Hunt moved that the starters, as usual, use a white Hag. Seconded by Mr. Tong and carried. Mr. HoneyJlcUl brought forward the question of setting out the system at present adopted for handicapping the schools. The secretary explained that the system was as follows:—The total number of points obtainable according to the sports programme is first ascertained, allowing 5 for Ist, 3 for 2nd, and .1 for 3rd place. At the forthcoming sports this total will be 495. Next the aggregate of the roll numbers of the various schools competing is ascertained. For demonstration purposes let us assume this to be 800. The school with the largest roll number is then taken. Lot us assume this to be 200. This number (200) is divided by the aggregate roll number (800), and multiplied by the number of points obtainable (495), the result being .124, which is : regarded as the “scratch” number, this school having no points awarded it for handicap purposes. To find the handicap of any school with a lesser roll number the roll number of the school is taken (say it is 100), and divided by 800 and multiplied by 495. The result (99) is subtracted from the scratch number /(124), leaving 25, which becomes the handicap, and is added to the number of points gained at tlie sports by the school .with the 1(50 roll number. There being no further business, the meeting adjourned.-
