EARTHQUAKE RELIEF COMMITTEE. A meeting of tlk; Earthquake Relief Commit toe was held on Tuesday, His Worship the Afayor presiding. Apologies for non-n(tendance were received from Coimieillor Bcolt and -Mr. U. S. Tarrant. T-lio minutes of the previous mooting were road and continued. In reply to Councillor Xaismith, the Town Clerk said there were dit subscription lists still to come in. It was decided on the mol ion of Councillor Xaisinith, seconded by the Mayor, that all lists he culled in by Friday, dth inot. it Nvas unanimously resolved that a.’ay' 'refugee cbildvdn 'attending the local school he granted tickets for the school excursion. -Mr, I’. y, Finlay son, conmiisariat officer. reported with regard to food. etc., supplied. it was decided that refugees reejuiring any necessities be invited to apply forthwith to the Town Clerk, who will supply them with the necessary orders. It was resolved that Mr. Hemingway’s name he added to the committee. It was also decided to place on record the appreciation of the action of Mr. Haddow in granting free passes to the pictures for the refugees. A letter was received from Mrs. if. Thompson thanking (ho committee for the very valuable assistance rendered her and her family and thanking all those in the town who hud clone so much to make happiness where sadness formerly was. There being no further business, tile meeting rose. THE MAYOR OT PATEA’S FUND.
