ARTIFICIAL RESPIRATION FAILS. BOY'S ATTEMPT AT RESCUE. About 11 o'clock on Sunday morning a boy on the Waikanue Beach, Gisborne, noticed a bather floating in the water and as he saw no movement ho gave the alarm to the caretaker and then dashed in and brought out the body of John Marshall, aged 29 years. Artificial respiration was continued for over an hour without success. Death is believed to be due to heart failure. Marshall’s parents arc not alive. He came from Edinburgh about five years ago, residing with his uncle, James McAllen Marshall, in 'Gisborne. He was employed as a night porter at Morcro Hotel, but was spending a brief holiday in Gisborne.
