DEATH RAYS IN NEXT WAR
NOT MEJtK FIGMENT OF IMAGIN ATION.
“Tin; next war will lie fought by chemists and physicists, ’ ’ slated Mr. Henry Rhodes recently, at the British Association oil Chemists at Liverpool. “After the experience gained in the Great War, no one wilt ho foolish enough to suppose, that the fullest use will not ho made of the latest discoveries in (diemistry and physics. An ellicient death ray is no mere .figment of imagination. Researches arc being carried out with invisible rays of such power that they would he capable of exterminating whole populations. It is useless to blink these facts. If these horrible consequences are to be avoided, or, at the best, a. means of defence discovered and developed, it is essential that the dye stuffs industry, and the research work dependent >upon it, should be strengthened, maintained, and developed, thus placing Britain in as good, or in a more powerful position Ilian the other great Powers. ’ ’
