EARTHQUAKE RELIEF. APPEAL TO LOCAL RESIDENTS. His Worship the Mayor (Mr. F. Kanisbottom) received the following telegram on Friday:—“Please inform me if you can still take women and children from earthquake area and maintain them until repatriated. Please reply when you can take them and how many. ’ ’ 1 REFUGEES ARRIVING TO-DAY. Word was received by the Town Clerk on Saturday that 80 refugees will arrive by the mail train this evening, when they will be met by the Mayor and others with cars, who will take them to their billets. THE MAYOR OF PATEA’S FUND. The following additional amounts have been donated to the Mayor of Paten’s earthquake relief fund:— Previously acknowledged, £27!) .'ls; W, C. Three fairly violent shocks wero felt at Napier between 4 and 5 a.ra. on Friday, followed by minor tremors.
