Mr. E. R. Hodge, architect to the A'anganui Education Board, paid a ,-isit of inspection to the local school on Monday. The death occurred at Christchurch mi Thursday of Mr. John Stephen Barren, well known horse owner, owner if Count Favour, and cricket enthusiast, in his 55th year. Death followed a few hours after .Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Dunn, aged 0 1 years, was taken from the Druids’ euchre tournament tit Ha worn on L’hursday night in a serious condition. Mrs. Dunn was a Napier resilient and bad been visiting her husband in hospital at Haw era. It is believed that she was staying' with relatives. There was a pleasant gathering of old Patea residents on Friday afternoon to meet Mr. Cecil J. Wray, who was passing through the town. Amongst those present were: —Messrs. M. Gariy, G. Williams, A. T. Christensen, J. McCarty, H. Locker, J. and W. Paterson, E. W. Hamerton, A. Edscr, and H. Deane. After a very happy hour had been spent recalling incidents of their boyhood days, in which Mr. Wray had figured with them, the party was photographed, Mr. Wray subsequently leaving for Wanganui, where he and Mrs. Wray are each to deliver an address (o the past and present pupils of the Wanganui Girls’ College.
