WHITE STAINS ON POLISHED SURFACES.
To remove white stains caused by hot dishes rub in spirits of camphor with a soft cloth. Afterwards polish in the usual way. Oak: Wash with warm beer; this improves the colour. Walnut: Clean with a piece of cloth dipped in paraffin. Mahogany: Wash with vinegar and water. Pitch pine: Use warm, soapy water. WHEN USING WHITING. When using whiting for ceilings, pantry, or other purpose mix with a little milk. The ceiling can then bo swept at any time without covering the sweeper, furniture, or floor with x white dust. CARE OF TENNIS RACQUETS. Never place a tennis racquet against t wall when not in use. Screw it into ■i press and hang it in a cupboard or other suitable place, ft' not kept in a press, racquets will soon become buckled and out of shape. TOO MUCH SALT IN FOOD. If too much salt is put into food while cooking it, place a wet cloth over the top of the cooking vessel and the salt will bo draw'll into the wet cloth. BILLY SPONGE. Ingredients: -1 eggs. Jib sugar, ]lb (lour. Method: Beat well fur «»»• utes. I’nt into a greased billy sprinkled with, sugar. Bake one hour in a hot oven, not removing the lid. FUN. A motorist on a holiday tour approaching a North Country village, was surprised to see an elderly man running down the road as hard as ho could go. Thinking to give a hand in case something was wrong, the motorist stopped and called out: “What are you running for.'” The man pulled up, gasping and panting, “iheie s a wild boast show down in the village, I U . replied, “and one of the tigers has broken loose.” “Good gracious!” exclaimed the motorist. “Which win did he go?” “How do I know?” gasped the old chap. “You don't suppose .I’m chasing him, do you?”
