MARSHAL JOFFRE DEAD

LEADER OF FRENCH ARMIES. A message from Paris states that Marshal Joffre is dead. A week ago France was shocked to learn that lie was dying from arteritis of the leg, the disclosure of which lie forbade. Gangrene supervened and the leg was amputated. The marshal slowly became weaker and death occurred on January 3. Marshal Joffre was the leader of the French Armies in the Groat War, and a very high tribute to him has been paid by all the nations.
