‘POPPY DAY’

PATEA’S OBSERVANCE.

Poppy Day was duly observed in Patea when Mrs. J. Peterson very generously undertook the sale of poppies on behalf of the Domain Board, tho proceeds going towards the maintenance of the memorial gates that were; erected to icommcmoratet khosc from this district who laid down their lives in the Great War whose names arcrecorded on tablets on the pillars of the gates. The board undertakes that a sum equal to the sum raised from the sale of (poppies is paid; out to returned soldiers in need of employment during the year.

The thanks of the board are due to Mrs. Petersen for her patriotic efforts, which resulted in every poppy received being sold.
