PATEA RIFLE ASSOCIATION.
ANN UAL MEETING
The annual meeting of the I’atea Rifle Association was hold on Thursday, Mr. C. R. Honeyfield presiding. An apology was received from Mr. E. Thompson for uon-attondancc. The minutes of the previous meeting were road and confirmed. The annual balance-sheet, showing a credit balance of £122 11s 6d, was read. In moving the adoption of the bal-ance-sheet, the chairman congratulated the members on having made a profit of £3O Is 8d on the last meeting. The day had been an excellent one, good entries had been received, imd one and all had done their best to make
the meeting a success.
Mr. Tinlayson, seconding the motion, endorsed the chairman’s remarks, and expressed the hope that this year they would have equally good weather and entries.
It was unanimously resolved that the annual meeting be held on June 3.

A letter was read from Mr. W. M. Luxford suggesting that more targets be erected on the range so that 10 diets could be fired.
A lengthy discussion took place and it was /mally decided that seven short matches be tired at 300yds, and if time permits 10 shots at 500yds and 600yds. The previous year’s programme, with the alterations as suggested, was then adopted, ffiK) programmes to be procured.
The thanks of the association were tendered- to the Domain Board for the use of the shed, and it was decided to grant the board the sum of £2 2s. The catering arrangements were left in Mr. C. J. Gardiner’s hands. It was decided that 'the executive meet on May 17 to arrange details in connection with the meeting. Tlie matter of telephones was left in Mr. Cunningham’s hands.
It was also decided that the sucreuv receive the same honorarium as
last year. On the motion of Mr. Pinlayson, seconded by Mr. Gilbert, it was decided that the association place on record its appreciation of the valuable services rendered by Mr. hi. Carey in the past, both speakers paying a warm tribute to Mr. Carey’s work. Hearty votes of thanks were passed to the donors of trophies, the honorary auditor, and the statistical officers, and the Press.
Mr. P. Palmer and the secretary were appointed a committee to report on the question of repairs to targets. There being no further business the meeting adjourned.
