TO-NIGHT—TALKIES. In "The Donovan Affair," the Columbia all talking mystery film, showing to-night at the Town Hall, Ethel Wales and Hank Mann play husband and wife roles. He stutters; she is always talking of their twins and asking him to exhibit a photo of the darlings—which he has invariably left in another suit. At rehearsal one day*, just for a gag, when Miss Wales asked for the photo of the twins, Hank Mann, who is considered one of the funniest men in the film colony, pulled out a picture of a jiair of small '-cdoured children from his pocket. "There they arc," he said, "a little sunburned, but otherwise 0.K." Thishanded the whole cast, including Jack Holt, Dorothy- Eevier, "William Collier, jun., John Roche, Fred Kelsey-, and Agnes .Ayres a hearty laugh. It helped relieve the tension felt by most of the stars as a result of the avidity with which they had assumed their characterisations in a picture enveloped in a shroud of mystery. A splendid selection of talking and sound supports -will also be shown. WEDNESDAY—PICTURES AND DANCE.
