During the recent visit to the earthquake area the Governor-General and Lady Alice Forgusson travelled over the new route to the West Coast, via the Manna Saddle, Portions of the journey were made on horseback, and in this week’s issue of the “New Zeaa Iml Free Lance’’ there are a number of interesting photographs dealing with the experiences of. Their Excellencies. Photographs of the floods in the South Canterbury and Otago districts provide 'another outstanding feature, and among other subjects dealt with in the pietoriul section arm Sir T.vnby King at a Sydney kindergarten school, winter sports enthusiasts at the Hermitage, Mount Cook, tobacco growing by the Maoris at Rotorua, and the first New Zealand radio exhibition. A full page is diVoted to the principals in the Nelson amateurs ’ production of “Going Up.’’
