PATEA V. ELTHAM,
A team of Patea golfers visited Eltliam during the week-end and played a match with the Eltham -Club, Eltham winning by 15 games to three. Details of the play arc, Eltham players being mentioned first in each ease:— L. Quin and Dale defeated Reilly and G. Wills. 3 up and 2 to play, and lost 3 up and 2 to play. Stewart and Reeves defeated Findlay and Hunger, 2 and 1, and lost 4 and 3. H. Casey and Phillips and Fraser and Torrens all square in the morning. Casey and <T. Quin beat Fraser and Torrens, G and 5, in the afternoon. Wills and Glemow defeated Hughes and Jenkins 4 and 3, and 4 and 2. Norton and De Launay defeated Pettigrew 7 and Jones, 3 and 2, and 7 and 6. O. Casey and Gibson defeated Honeyfield and Harris, 3 up and 2 up. Darling and Fallowes defeated Mills and Pearce, 3 and 2, and 2 up. Free and Campbell defeated C. R* Honeyficld and Mitchell, 1 up and all square.
Ritter and Hill lost to Shcild and Edwards, 1 down, and won 4 and 2. Fountaine and Chrystal defeated Glcnny and Haddow, 4 and 3, and 5 and 4.
Great interest was taken in the match between Reilly and Wills, of Patea, and L. Quinn and Dale, of Eltham. In the morning the Eltham pair held the advantage, winning the 13-hole match by 3 up and 2, but in the afternoon the Patea “tops’’ were the victors, winning the 18-holc match by 3 up and 2. MATCH WITH NEW PLYMOUTH. The team to play Now Plymouth at Patea -on Saturday afternoon next will be published in Friday's issue of the ‘ ‘ Press. ’ ’ MATCH WITH ELTHAM. The Patea team to play Eltham at Patea next week-end will be picked from the following: —Reilly, Wills, iFindtay* Hunger, Fraser, Torrens, Hughes, Jenkins, Pettigrew, Jones, I. Honeyficld, Harris, Mills, Pearce, O. R. Honeyfiekl, Mitchell, Sheild, Edwards, Bosley, Glcnny, Haddow, and Hodge. GOLF NOTES. Players will regret to learn that owing to catching his hand in the door of his car, Mr. Gilbert wall be unable to play again this season. Ho wall be a distinct loss to the Patea team in the remainder of this season’s matches. PATEA LADIES’ CLUB. MEDAL MATCH. Weather the L.G.U. medal match that was postponed last Wednesday wall be played this afternoon. The draw" will remain the same.
