80 BOTTLES OF LIQUOR
POLICE FIND IN ASHBURTON.
£BO SPENT IN SIX WEEKS,
During the hearing of charges of being idle and disorderly against four men in Ashburton, three of whom had huts in a riverbed, the police stated that one admitted having spent. £SO on liquor in the last six weeks. When the police visited the place they found 80 bottles of liquor. On another occasion they found 12 sugar bags full of empties, requiring two motor car trips to remove them.
Frederick George Sheehan, Patrick O’Hanlon, and Douglas Wilkinson wen' sentenced to 14 days, while Robert Samuel Stock was convicted and discharged. All four were remanded on charges of either selling or assisting in the sale of liquor.
